Description

In this Build Project, you’ll act as a Biotech Analyst, creating an Investment Research Thesis for a biotech company. Guided by an experienced Build Fellow, you'll conduct research, perform due diligence, and develop analytical models to assess the competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and market trends. You'll gain hands-on experience with industry tools, clinical trial data, and financial modeling. This practical experience offers essential skills for understanding biotech startups and navigating their risks and opportunities.

Prerequisites

  • Intermediate knowledge of biotechnology concepts: You should be familiar with high school biology and chemistry (at the level taught in AP courses).  
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint (or similar Google tools): You should be able to use them to do simple data analysis and report your findings.

About the expert

Anjanei Dhayalan is a Natural Sciences Build Fellow at Open Avenues, mentoring students in Biotechnology and Drug Development projects.

He also works as a Technical Operations Manager at Synthego Corporation, where he focuses on scaling and sustaining operations for GMP and RUO quality single guide RNA (sgRNA) products.

With seven years of diverse biotech experience, Anjanei has made significant contributions to scientific innovation, operational excellence, and cross-functional leadership. His notable achievements include scaling SARS-CoV-2 vaccine production and managing projects on encapsulating proteins for anti-cancer therapies using novel mechanisms.

He holds a Master's in Drug Development and Product Management from UC San Diego. Outside of work, Anjanei enjoys exploring new hot sauces.
