Develop a workflow application with requests and approvals on the ServiceNow platform while prioritizing user stories for your development.
Service Management, essential for all organizations, involves delivering, optimizing, and managing services, and relies heavily on information technology. ServiceNow, a globally used workflow platform, is prominent among Fortune 500 companies for this purpose, with high demand for related jobs and competitive salaries. However, proficiency in the platform alone is insufficient; systematic work and value creation are crucial, often facilitated by methodologies like Agile. In this Build project, you will learn ServiceNow development under an experienced architect's guidance, enhancing existing applications and practicing prioritizing business demand and work within a simulated ServiceNow development team environment.
Prioritize business demand (user stories) based on available resources (knowledge, time, etc.)
Get introduced to the Build Fellow, other students and the ServiceNow platform. Learn about the project goals and expectations. We will also start our journey into the ServiceNow platform and explore the available ServiceNow learning resources online.
We will review the user stories (requirements) for this project and learn more about writing and improving user stories. On the ServiceNow platform we will kick-off the development of an application using an example.
We will review the user stories and discuss if they are clear enough to start development. You get some tools to do an estimation of the required work for each user story. We will also address questions on developing your first user story in the ServiceNow application.
Here we will be learning from each other. This is a work session where you can ask (technical) questions on the ServiceNow application development, clarify user stories and discuss progress.
How are we doing so far? We will check on the progress of the user stories you are working on, and how you are doing on your progress versus your estimation. Based on that, you get to choose the next user stories to work on.
Get ready to get into the weeds of your user story development. We will discuss questions, ideas and suggestions on developing your user stories in your ServiceNow application.
Are the user stories “done” done? What needs to happen to make it a final product, what decisions do you need to make? In this session we will focus on closing out the user stories you are working on and make your application a MVP (minimum viable product).
This is your chance to shine, by giving a demonstration of your ServiceNow application and the lessons learned. You also need to show your workbook and provide feedback on the project. We will close out the project in this session with any remaining Q&A.
Understanding of basic database concepts like tables, records (rows), fields and relationships.
