Description

In this Build Project, you'll position yourself as a young investment professional and prepare a recommendation for the senior committee that evaluates and chooses where to allocate a finite amount of capital. Your recommendation will be in the form of a short written document in which you outline your considerations and support them with commercial data points and analyses. Drafting investment papers is a highly sought skill in entry-level analysts, and with investment writing, practice truly makes perfect. Under the supervision of an experienced industry expert, you'll choose and review a number of sources to select the most important data to justify your statements. You'll become familiar with key analyst skills such as top-down and bottom-up analysis, and market and company research. All this will happen in an environment that simulates the operations of a real investment team.

  • Basic understanding of commercial concepts such as supply chains, revenue models (e.g. customer subscription fees, advertising revenue, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of the differences between types of financial institutions (for example: a bank and a private equity fund) and of the roles they play in supporting businesses
  • Awareness and knowledge of key financial metrics e.g. revenue growth, EBITDA margin
