Pitch your startup idea to a group of investors by creating a pitch deck introducing your product or service, analyzing market opportunities, evaluating business strategies, and examining competitive landscapes
Ever wondered why some startups succeed, while most fail? It all starts with the first pitch to a potential investor. Whether you are interested in analyzing investment opportunities or starting your own company, being able to analyze pitch decks and build your own is fundamental. Come to our first session with your own startup idea, and we will develop a pitch deck and presentation for it.
During this Project, you will learn how to build an effective and compelling pitch deck and present it to investors. We will develop a business plan and a go-to-market (GTM) strategy. Throughout the workshops, you will gain the knowledge and skills you need to build a pitch deck. This will all culminate in you presenting your own startup idea to a group of investors as the audience!
The skills you gain during this Project will help you in your future career in many roles you might consider that involve analyzing investment opportunities, in particular in the world of private equity and venture capital.
Get to know the Build Fellow and your fellow students and learn about exciting careers in finance. We’ll also start the project by analyzing successful pitch decks and presentations.
Every good startup solves a specific problem. What are you trying to fix or improve, and what will your solution(s) be? This will be the core of your pitch deck presentation.
First things first. We will explore different types of business plans, and you will draft your own, forming the basis for your startup.
What does your market look like, and who will you be competing against? Today is all about analyzing your prospective market and designing a strategy to capture it.
In this session, you will craft your startup’s GTM strategy: a plan outlining how your company will launch and sell its product or service to its target audience.
How will you position your product or service? We will explore the power of marketing and how to effectively use it. We will also discuss basic financial concepts and exit opportunities.
Now that you have analyzed and crafted different aspects of your startup strategy, it’s time to tie everything together: finalize your pitch deck and prepare for your presentation!
Today is the big day! You will present your startup idea to a group of investors. Will your company get funded?
